Acupressure Tip for Nausea & Anxiety

Today’s Acupressure tip is great for relief from morning sickness, anxiety, and nausea from migraines and bugs! We’re talking about Pericardium 6!

The Acupressure point Pericardium 6 (P6) is great for or all kinds of nausea—caused by motion sickness, pregnancy, stress and anxiety, food poisoning, or stomach bugs! This is a great point for reducing anxiety that’s accompanied by heart pounding or palpitations, or shortness of breath (like EXAMS!).

Squeezing P6 while taking some deep breaths has helped me through more than a few tense moments. P6’s affect on anxiety also makes it a popular point for reducing insomnia. Insomnia in TCM is typically thought of as an imbalance in the Heart system, and the Pericardium channel indirectly affects disorders of the Heart.

P6 is located three finger breadths (your fingers if your’e applying it to yourself or the fingers of the person your’e working on) below the wrist on the inner forearm in between the two tendons. To find and use this acupressure point, locate the point by turning your hands over so the palm is facing up then apply downward pressure between the two tendons, stimulating the area for up to 5 minutes.

Sea bands or Motion Sickness bands available on line at our store at the Chemist or Helath food shop and are a great way to apply pressure to P6. They come in packs of two, so one for each wrist, with the “button” side positioned over P6, and you can wear them all day. You can press down on the buttons for extra relief.
