Know Your Flow
If you've always wanted to try yoga and have been too shy, intimidated or just freaked out by all the super bendy pretzel yogi's (no offence to all the super bendy pretzel yogi's - you rock 👊), I have space on the mat for you.
I'm taking a Body Positive approach to Hatha/Yin Yoga and as a big chick myself, having undergone 8 years of a love/hate relationship with my practice, I'm sharing my journey and trying to make yoga accessible for every woman, regardless of size, age, body issues and limitations.
Homeopathy 101 - A beginners Guide - Tissue Salts
As I begin to introduce our new Myofascial Fertiltiy & Yin Yoga classes, our “Womb Love Yoga Flow”, I thought I’d start by focusing on some Womb Love 101
First up, both our Womb Love Bodywork and our upcoming Womb Love Yoga Flow are based around the four phases of the Menstrual cycle; Menstruation or your bleed; the Follicular phase; Ovulation; and the Luteal Phase. So we can tailor a program to suit your time of the month, it’s important you let us know where you’re at! So, a little bit of theory.
Acupressure Tip for Headache Relief - Part 2
So, you've seen Tissue Salts on the shelves of the chemist, health food store or complimentary therapist. What are they and what do you use them for? So, starting at the start....
Acupressure Tip for Headache Relief -Part 1
Today we continue with our Acupressure Tip for Headaches - this time the acupressure point is Liver 3. When used in conjunction with Large Intestine 4 it packs a pretty good punch for stopping headaches in their tracks, but also any stress and tension related pains anywhere in the body. Liver 3, also known as LV3, LIV3 or by it’s traditional name Taichong - which means Great Rushing or Great Surge.
Acupressure Tip for Nausea & Anxiety
Today’s acupressure tip is focusing on Large Intestine 4 or LI4
LI4 is known as the analgesia point and as “asprin” for colds, flu, sinus conditions and headache. This point relieves frontal headaches, stress type headaches, toothaches and neck and shoulder pain. It’s also an acupressure point for relieving constipation. Combine with the acupressure point Liver 3 to help with acute pain and stress (Liver 3 will be our next Acupressure Tip!).
Pregnancy Safe CAM tips for Insomnia
Today’s Acupressure tip is great for relief from morning sickness, anxiety, and nausea from migraines and bugs! We’re talking about Pericardium 6! The Acupressure point Pericardium 6 (P6) is great for or all kinds of nausea—caused by motion sickness, pregnancy, stress and anxiety, food poisoning, or stomach bugs! This is a great point for reducing anxiety that’s accompanied by heart pounding or palpitations, or shortness of breath (like EXAMS!).
Acupressure Tip for Grounding.
Having trouble sleeping? Not sure what you can and can not do to make it easier to slip off to the land of Zzzzz? Aromatherapy, Tissue Salts, Flower Essences, Herbal Tea, meditations and of course regular pregnancy massage are some simple easy non-medication ways to help you out.
If you’re finding everyday a little stressful or school holidays put you a bit on edge, today’s acupressure tip is perfect! This acupressure tip is another great one for calming and grounding yourself during stressful situations or when you feel like you’re about to loose it! I’m talking about Kidney 1, also known as K1 or Gushing Spring or Bubbling Spring.
Stop thinking massage is a luxury!
We massage therapists tend to rabbit on about taking a good long soak in epsom salts to ease muscle soreness, but did you know that taking the time to soak your feet in a tub of epsom salts or magnesium flakes provides just as much benefit as a full tub soak? You don’t need a fancy foot spa, but you can certainly use one, you just need a foot size tub, some warm water and some Epsom Salts or Magnesium Flakes and you’re on your way to getting some muscle easing goodness and some sleep perfection!
Fiore Mama Manifesto
Please stop thinking that massage is an indulgence and make it part of your regular wellness schedule.
We often have a tendency to put off scheduling a regular therapeutic massage session because of many reasons, but mainly because we are led to believe that massage is a luxury, not affordable, and not part of our regular self maintenance routine. In fact therapeutic and remedial massage has so many benefits, not just alleviating pain!
It Takes a Village
My aim for Fiore Bodywork - Fiore Mama is to hold space for women and their families through the entire birthing journey, be it with physical and emotional support, education and assistance, acting as a birth concierge or simply massaging out the knots and tightness of daily living so that they can achieve the birth they want.
