  • Body Positive Yoga - all abilities, all body sizes, all ages. Yoga for Everybody!

Hatha yoga is term that refers to any type of yoga that teaches physical postures.  Generally, when a class is marketed as Hatha, it means that you will get a gentle introduction to the most basic yoga postures. You probably won't work up a sweat in a hatha yoga class, but you should end up leaving class feeling longer, looser, and more relaxed.

BUT IT'S  MUCH, MUCH, MORE! 

Yoga can change how we feel not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. Yoga can enhance feelings of happiness and wellbeing, help release sadness and grieving, encourage relaxation and dynamism. We can use our yoga practice to become more connected, vital and engaged with world we live in.  

 
 

Myofascial (Fertility) Yin Yoga

We are currently developing our Myofascial Fertility Yin Yoga program! Rachael is undertaking 100hrs  Myofascial Fertility  Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Mindful Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training in August. Look for classes by late october 2018.

MFYY offers a way to support fertility naturally, offset the stress associated with fertility challenges, improve chances of conception and healthy pregnancy. Yoga for fertility is recommended by fertility doctors, endocrinologist as well as acupuncturists, physiotherapists and naturopaths. The 100 hour Specialist fertility and yin yoga teacher training program is taught by Dr Amanda Waaldyk a Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Fertility Yoga Teacher Phoebe Cole a Myotherapist, Pre and post natal Pilates & Yoga Teacher. Combing over twenty years of clinical experience, together Amanda and Phoebe have created an innovative and modern training that has a “whole body approach”. Incorporating myo-fascial release and yin yoga into the training program helps the body and nervous system to remove trauma, so the body can rebuild and reach full restoration in all areas. This is a key concept when it comes to conceiving - MPYTT

NOT JUST FOR FERTILITY!

Yin yoga is a delicious way to relax and soothe frayed nerves. Also described as  restorative yoga, Yin classes use bolsters, blankets, and blocks to prop students into passive poses so the body can experience the benefits of a pose without having to exert any effort. A good Yin class is more rejuvenating than a nap. Studios and gyms often offer them on Friday nights, when just about everyone could use some profound rest.

Pregnancy yoga is a multifaceted approach to exercise that encourages stretching, mental centering and focused breathing. Research suggests that prenatal yoga is safe and can have many benefits for pregnant women and their babies.

Research suggests that prenatal yoga can:

  • Improve sleep

  • Reduce stress and anxiety

  • Increase the strength, flexibility and endurance of muscles needed for childbirth

  • Decrease lower back pain, nausea, carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms, headaches and shortness of breath

Prenatal yoga can also help you meet and bond with other pregnant women and prepare for the stress of being a new parent. And it's not just for Pregnant Women, birth partners can join in too, be it at regular Mindful Pregnancy Yoga classes or special Couple classes.
